Hanoi Open University (HOU) 1. Foundation Date
Hanoi Open University was founded on November 3, 1993 under the Decision 535/TTg by the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
2. Mandate
Hanoi Open University (HOU) is an establishment of higher education training and research with different forms of training - distant and face-to-face - to meet the diversified learning needs of the society, contributing to increasing the scientific and technical potential of the nation.
Hanoi Open University is an organization operating within the system of state universities under the direct control of the Ministry of Education and Training and is entitled to all statutes of a public university.

- Center for Distance Education Development

5. Degrees and Programs
- Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics, Tourism, English, Design, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Electronics-telecommunication, Law (4-5 years).
- Associate Bachelor degrees in Economics, English (3 years).
- Certificate for short-training courses in Economics, Fashion Design, Informatics, Hotel Management, Tourist Guidance, English, French, Chinese etc.
6. Modes of Training
- Face-to-face training (for around 10,000 full-time and part-time students).
- Distance training (for approximately 20,000 students throughout the country).

Over the past 10 years, HOU has established co-operation with many international educational institutions and organizations as follows:

The co-operation activities are in the forms of exchanges of academic information and materials, staff and students, joint research projects, conferences, seminars and training programs.
